Prom night is a much-anticipated event for high school teenagers. It is a formal occasion when girls and boys dress in their finest gowns and tuxedos. Some girls spend weeks selecting their gowns and matching accessories. Wearing a corsage is as traditional as going to prom itself. Many girls wear a beautiful wrist corsage--a small flower arrangement that typically adorns a girl's wrist--that subtly dresses up their gown and keeps their hands free so they can dance with ease. Instead of shelling out the big bucks for expensive prom wrist corsages, making your own as the following steps allows you to exercise your creativity and save money at the same time.
1. Select one large flower and two smaller flowers to serve as attractive and aromatic flowers for the prom corsage.
2. Snip the stems from each flower, leaving only 1/2 inch of stem on each of them. This also removes thorns from the flowers if they have any.
3. Gather the three blossoms together, placing the smaller blossoms at either side of the large one. Bind the three stems together with a strip of green florist tape. Wrap it around the stems smoothly from the ends to just beneath the cluster of blossoms.
4. Cut a length of ribbon from the roll measuring 10 inches long. Tie it into a bow around the center of the tape-bound stems.
5. Insert the push-pin or safety pin into the stems of the flower, behind the bow. Make sure this is the backside of the corsage.
6. Spray a small amount of craft adhesive to some of the petals of the flowers.
After making your prom wrist corsage, place it in a safe place until prom. If it is made of silk flowers, find a safe place where the flowers will not become crushed.
